In Usmanpura, on the Sabarmati riverfront, behind Navgujarat College, in Mamta Park Society, On the fifth floor rooftop terrace of the Dada Bhagwan Spirituality Centre, a 151” (12 feet 7 inches) marble idol has been inaugurated. This idol is of the current living Tirthankar Bhagwan, Shree Simandhar Swami. The inspiration behind this induction was Dr. Niruben Amin, who was in the service of Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan for 20 years. She fully realised the knowledge imparted by him. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan made Dr. Niruben Amin, his successor so that the knowledge of Akram Vignan could be passed on. When she was asked why only Simandhar Swami’s idol was inducted, she replied with depth that Simandhar Swami was present and living, but living on another earth, named Mahavideh Kshetra. On our earth there is no fully realised god. The Knowledge of Separation that Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan attained was from Simandhar Swami, through his subtle body travelling there and obtaining that knowledge, and we have obtained it from Dada Bhagwan. Therefore Simandhar Swami is of great importance, in reaching ultimate liberation.
In answer to the question of what the reasoning was behind putting this idol so high up, she said that it was so that commuters crossing the Sabarmati bridge would be able to pay there obeisance to him. Furthermore, in her dreams, she paid obeisance to Simandhar Swami, fifteen times bigger in exactly the same pose and form, which was a significant hidden implication; therefore these difficulties were naturally overcome with the co-operation of the demigods and goddesses.
The marble used for this idol was obtained from a marble quarry in Jaipur, at that time the weight of the marble was 32 tonnes, and after the idol was carved it weighed 16.3 tonnes. To carve this idol it has taken 15 months. At present this idol has been placed 60 feet high on the rooftop terrace of the Dada Bhagwan Spirituality Centre. To lift this idol to that height a 85 tonne hydraulic crane was called in. The boom of the crane was 120 feet and took approximately 2 hours to set it in place and then took just 10 minutes to lift the idol the distance of 60 feet, which was truly a great feat and a sight to see of such an extraordinary idol. Now after the finishing touches have been done, the inauguration ceremony for the idol took place on 31st December 1999, the boundary day between the current millennium and the next millennium. On which thousands of people from all over the world attended and celebrated this event.
This marble idol at present is the largest crossed legged statue in al
l of India. Furthermore, the millions of people in the vicinity of Income Tax circle and crossing the Gandhi Bridge can pay obeisance daily. Moreover, the most extraordinary thing is that many derasars have been built on the inspiration of Dr. Niruben Amin, however no donor names or plaques have been issued, which in the realm of religion can be called a revolutionary change from the norm.
