Now according to the Lord, doubts related to the Atma , will never go away. Lord Krishna's did. Otherwise, doubts such as, “The soul must be like this, or it must be like that. Surly it does something? It must have a doership in certain aspects,” about the soul will always remain. Or else people will say, “How can things happen if we don't do anything!” Allya! You will not understand all this. Only the Gnani Purush knows how all this happens. The Soul that the Gnani Purush knows and understands is not the one described in books. There is nothing in the books regarding the Atma.
That is why no one has ever become doubtless with reference to the Soul. Some people say, “Surely the Atma must have this much desire?” The Atma that they believe in is what I call ‘nichetan chetan', it is the pratishthit atma, the relative Atma , the non-self. Now how can they acquire the Atma this way? No wonder they have doubts!
The whole world is immersed in doubts about the Atma . People ask me, “Is it true that no one other than the Atma can do anger, pride, attachment, and greed?” They say that the non-self, which is inanimate, is never able to do so. I tell them, “The non-self will not do it, but how can even the Self (the Soul) do anything?” How can the Soul do it, when ‘doing' is not even an attribute of the soul? People do not have knowledge about a separate tertiary attribute that arises when two the Atma and matter (the animate and inanimate) come together. A third attribute, which is completely different from the individual attributes of the soul and matter, arises; the Soul and matter do not lose their inherent attributes. But how can anyone understand this without a Gnani ?
