True Sanyaas (Renunciation)

Lord Krishna had disclosed two paths of liberation: One of sanyaas (renunciation) and the other of nishkaam yoga . The word ‘sanyaas' is a very high word, but no one understands this word. People say that a sanyasi is someone who wears ocher garments. ‘Sanyaas' means to renounce the mind, speech, and body, to retract the Soul from everywhere and place it on the seat of the Soul. That is called ‘sanyaas' . Until one receives Atma Gnan from the Gnani Purush , he cannot become a sanyasi . If a person is on his farm, he cannot at the same time, be at home and if he is at home then he cannot be on the farm. Similarly, a true sanyasi constantly lives in his Soul.

Today, no one understands a single word of Lord Krishna. The true sanyasta yoga is one where a person does not have the belief of ‘I am the doer' in any of his actions; that is the true sanyasi . (The real definition of a sanyasi is to remove the belief of ‘I am Chandulal' from one's mind, body and speech and place it in the Soul as beings one's real identity.)The so-called sanyasi of today does not have even a trace of sanyasta in him. Sanyasta yog is one where the Soul is placed in the Soul (to acquire the realization of one's real identity of being the Soul.). Absolute sanyasi means that one is totally into the self. That is our ultimate sanyas ; where the soul (the self) remains in the Soul (Self), i.e. the Pure Soul. This religion of ours is alaukik (beyond the world). These worldly religions make you relinquish the Soul and place everything in the body!

Lord Krishna has said that one is a true sanyasi , whether he is a married man or one who has renounced, if he:

1) has no pride or arrogance of being the doer

2) has no infatuation

3) has no desires

Infatuation is an attribute of the body; it is like the relationship between a needle and a magnet. Similarly, a body will be attracted towards atoms, which are compatible with its own. The Soul has nothing to do with it, but because of illusion a person believes, “I am attracted,” (because of his identification with his body as being himself). We are infatuated through the body. There is no infatuation by way of the Soul; the Soul never gets attracted. Where the soul does not become absorbed ( tanmayakar ) with anything, then we can say that penance automatically prevails there. To take pride in doership is truly an infatuation.
