Questioner: It is said in the ‘Gita' , ‘ Sanshayatma vinashyati' . Does this refer to doubts about the Atma or other things?
Ddadashri: Everyone has doubts. There is no man who does not have doubts. Man does not have trust in anything in this world and he continues to have doubts, which will kill him. He is dead anyway!
Questioner: A re we talking about worldly doubts or doubts in nischaya (matters of the Atam ), which one?
Dadashri: The entire world has doubts in nischaya , as a rule. Lord Krishna has written sanshyatma vinushyati . A man who is suspicious of everything, his wife, his father, his mother, his brother, is indeed a dead man! How can he live if he is suspicious of everything? The whole world is in doubt about the Atma , as if he is not going to die. But he who has doubts in vyavahar (worldly life), is already dead! Such a man would not trust anyone and will continue to experience doubts. He wants to lend money but will have doubts about the debtor. Such a person is a dead person. He starts to wonder what his daughters may be up to while they are at college, whom they are befriending. He will be suspicious. Is he not dead already?
Doubts and suspicions are useless. When someone goes out with a knife with the intention of killing, he will not have any doubts and that is why he is able to kill. And the one who dies does not have any doubts and that is why he dies. This person will die only once, whereas the one constantly absorbed in doubts and suspicions, is forever dead.
