Questioner : There is a lot more ahead past the state of stithpragna , please explain this.
Dadashri : Stithpragna is one such state where the intellect will become still on the path to Moksha ( vaikuntha ). As one hears about Lord Krishna's vaikuntha and his study of the ‘Gita' progresses, his intellect will become still and steady. The Lord calls this state a state of ‘stithpragna' . There is a lot that remains to be known beyond this state. At this point in time, he is deserving of a visa only in this area.
Stithpragna is not a state of experience. When a person understands, through words that ‘the Atma is separate from everything else', that is the beginning of the stithpragna state. This state lasts until he has the experience of the Self. He reaches the state of stithpragna through the path shown by Lord Krishna, but there is a lot beyond that. After I give you the knowledge of the Self, the state that you experience is much higher than the state of stithpragna . There is a great difference between the state of stithpragna and the Knowledge of the Self. The stithpragna state does become still in pragna , but that pragna is relative pragna . You still have to acquire the real Self after that. The pragna that we (those who have taken Gnan ) have is the pragna that arises after acquiring the knowledge of the real Self. Then you are able to settle all accounts with equanimity and without any attachment or abhorrence. Stithpragna state means to understand the attributes of the soul through intellect that has become pure, however the experience of the Soul is not there.
In the stithpragna state, one will not become emotional. It is a state in which one remains in motion but there is no samadhi (absolute state of being unaffected). Samadhi will not arise without Gnan . It arises when the illusion of , ‘I am the doer. I am Chandubhai', goes away.
